28th Iran International Cycling Tour Starts

Iran International Cycling Tour, which was established in 1986 with the name of Tour de Urmia Lake and then renamed as “Tour of Azerbaijan”, will be held as “Tour of Iran” starting from this year. The 28th edition of the tour which will take place between May 22-27 this year, is open to elit men and U23 (under 23) and categorized by International Cycling Union (UCI) as a 2.2 category race as part of the Asia Tour. The race will start in Tebriz, the largest city of Iranian Azerbaijan, and will end up with a criterium in the same city.



19 teams from Turkey, Albania, Algeria, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, China, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Check Republic, Iran, Malaysia, Syria, Serbia and Germany will participate in the tour. While Turkey will be represented by Brisaspor, Torku Şeker Spor, who had a stage win with Yuri Metlushenko last year, stated that they wouldn’t participate in this year’s edition.
