As you know this year Artvin city will be hosting a mountain bike race (Class 2 – XCO) internationally for the first time and the organization team has been preparing for this race for a long time. By the support of Youth and Sports City Headship, Artvin Governership, Şavşat District Governorship and also Turkish Cycling Federation, this race will be held at natural eden Şavşat. By the way, 3M Enerji A.Ş., Elit A.Ş., Myclimate and Salcano companies are the sponsors of the race.

We are expecting to see the same attention from foreigner racers to this race like the other races in Turkey those let the winners gain high points. It is expected from Ukrainians come to this race who don’t miss almost any Class 1 mountain bike races held in Turkey, besides Russians, lately Hungarians, Czechoslovakias and assertive racers from many other countries. Şavşat race is catching on not only by means of it will give UCI points and will happen like a festival but also by its giving abundant money awards for all categories.

As you know even in Class 1 competitions only elitemen are able to get UCI money awards but in Şavşat race, no matter which category everyone are in, they’ll go back their homes happily with the money awards they got.  Let’s remember the awards will be given in this race;

Elite Men / Elite Women Category: 5140 Euro

Junior Men / Junior Women Category: 1380 Euro

Men / Women U23 Category: 2160 Euro

Master Men Category: 1080 Euro

There has been a hard work for this race will happen nearby Şavşat Meşeli Lake and the preparations for the 5.2 km long course to be ready for the race is going on. The race place has been snowy recently.  Even though the race authorities expect the race will probably happen on a day ( 16th of April ) without snow on its course, they are taking precautions and they are making arrangements will provide the course snowless. ( Cyclingtr.com warning: You better take your winter gear with you, you’ll stay at a cold region)

Many athlete and sports club noticed that they’ll go to Artvin-Şavşat with their own transportation options. Besides the authorities provide one bus will depart from Istanbul and antoher one will depart from the capital city Ankara. So you wont pay for transportation and accomodation. ( Date and hour info will be announced in the following days)

   The quota of the bus assigned for the mountain bike racers will come from Istanbul is over and there is still available seats in the bus will depart from Ankara. Racers who will join from Istanbul or from other cities can apply for Ankara bus. If the number of participants will be too many, then another bus can be provided will depart from Istanbul.
