The 1st Stage of the 1st Tour of Gallipoli started from the representational wooden Trojan Horse at the Historical Trojan Remains. The prologue started with 51 riders from 9 teams. Athletes started one minute after one another according to the results of the team draw from a day before and the list made by the managers.

The correction about the course length from the technical meeting a day before was revised again and the length was reduced to 4.7km from 7.5km. The weather was 25C degrees and with the wind and distorted roads challenging the racers, the ascent at the last 700m especially affected their timings the most.

During the interviews before the race all were mentioning about the strength of the Slovenian Team as consistent with the result. At the quite short course of 4.7km, slamming his rivals with 25s, Slovenian Blaz Jarc ( also riding with the pro team Team Nettap ) drew attention with his strong muscular nature. Slovenian National Team’s other members are riding for continental Slovenian Adria Mobil Team and are also capable of racing for professional teams.

With the start, Blaz Jarc constantly paced up and the Slovenian riders with strong climbing skills won the victory at the end of the day and will bear the Yellow Jersey during the 2nd stage of 97km between Kilitbahir – Eceabat Conkbayırı – Alçıtepe – Abide – Alçıtepe – Kilitbahir. After the race Blaz told that they didn’t know much about the performance of the Turkish riders hence they wanted to get this result as a team, they were a strong team and they’ll try to defend the Yellow Jersey till the end of the Tour. Slovenian Blaz Jarc, after slamming others by 25s at a quite short course of 4.7km proved that he’s the strongest candidate for the Yellow Jersey.

The red and green jersey bearers of the Tour will be determined after the 2nd stage.

Torku Spor’s strong rider Mustafa Sayar finished second with 00:07:16 and showed up at the podium eventually putting a smile upon Konya Torku Şeker Spor Vivelo team. At the end of the race Mustafa commented that the Slovenian rider was quite strong, his advantage of 4s wasn’t enough and he must be careful, the bonifications could change everything, the Tour goes on despite the disadvantages and him and his team will keep on chasing the Yellow Jersey. He told that after the World Championships he didn’t have time to train and altough he didn’t feel well, his timing was good enough but he couldn’t do his best during the race.
BrisaSpor’s strong rider Mert Mutlu won the third place with 00:07:20 and as he said during the interview before the race, he told that the prologue on the first day was important and they’ll do their best to get the Yellow Jersey.
