Emin Muftuoglu, the President of Turkish Cycling Federation has been accuseed … by the General Directorate of Sport’s Arbitral Commission
Emin Muftuoglu, the President of Turkish Cycling Federation, has been sentenced to deprivation of rights for 6 months, by the General Directorate of Sport’s Arbitral Commission, due to the accusation that he had not behaved according to the Public Procurement Law. According to the claim, he made a tender in order to buy some bicycles and had the documents drafted as if he’d received them and made the payment to the company, yet did not receive the mentioned bicycles. Since the penalty is more than 3 months, his position as the President of Turkish Cycling Federation will be in danger.
Muftuoglu, who is very well-known with his contributions to the Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey, said that he’s been sentenced for something he hadn’t done and that he will object to the judgment right away since the judicial process is still going on and the sentence has not become definite yet. He added that the mentioned bicycles are still in their storage and on the other hand they’re not bound by the Public Procurement Law. Trusting his strong evidences, he believes that the penalty will be abated soon.
Emin Muftuoglu has been the President of Turkish Cycling Federation since 2004. He has also been the President of the UCI Mountain Bike Commission and a Member of the UCI Management Committee since 2013. With all these positions he’s been occupying, he’s recently been working hard on taking the Tour of Turkey to the WorldTour category in the forthcoming years.
